STORY:
Proving there's no rest for the wicked, the unspeakably evil Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) is again resurrected from the grave to wreak havoc upon those who dare to dream. But this time, he faces a powerful adversary!
As her friends succumb one by one to Freddy's wrath, telephathically gifted Kristen embarks on a desperate mission to destroy the satanic dream stalker and release the tortured souls of his victims once and for all.
Directed by Renny Harlin (The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cliffhanger) and loaded with killer effects and drop-dead humor, this is a "superior horror picture that balances wit and gore with imagination and intelligence" (Los Angeles Times).

REVIEW:
This wasn't a very great story, but the death parts stayed with me for awhile. Freddy turning Debbie into a huge bug is freaky. See it, and I'll let you decide. Some parts were great and I loved, but some parts just weren't that good.

Quotes
Kirstin: We have matching luggage again: the bags under your eyes.

Rick: It's avoid-all-contact day.

Freddy Krueger: How sweet fresh meat!

Debbie Stevens: I don't believe in you!
Freddy Krueger: I believe in you.

Freddy Krueger: You shouldn't have buried me. I'm not dead.

Kincaid: I'll see you in hell.
Freddy Krueger: Tell 'em Freddy sent ya.

Freddy Krueger: Welcome to Wonderland, Alice!

Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: Elm Street's last brat, farewell.
Kirstin: We beat you before!
Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: And now you're all alone! Kristen, why don't you call on more of your little friends. Maybe THEY could help.
Kirstin: Never! I'm the last!
Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: Why don't you...reach out, and touch someone?!

Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: How's this for a wet dream?!

Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: You can check in, but you can't check out!

Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: You've got their powers. I've got their souls.

Alice Johnson: Mind over matter.
Debbie Stevens: Sheila used to say that. It's so weird. She changes every day.
Daniel 'Dan' Jordan: No. It's after every death.

Alice Johnson: You know, you are one nice piece of man hunk.
Daniel 'Dan' Jordan: Thanks Alice.

Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: Wanna suck face?

Debbie Stevens: What seventeen-year old has fatal asthma?

Chorus Children: Now I lay me down to sleep. The Master of Dreams my soul will keep. In a reflection by my side...
Alice Johnson: Evil will see itself, and it will die!

Kirstin: How did you learn so much about dreams?
Alice Johnson: Well, when it's all you have you become an expert.
Sheila Kopecky: Hey handsome. Care for some bun?

Rick: Hey Supergirl, give the bug a break.

Dan: Freddy!
Fred 'Freddy' Krueger: Well it ain't Dr. Seuss.

Kincaid: [To Kristin] Here comes your boyfriend. Did HE give you a good night's sleep?
Rick: [To Kincaid and Joey] We don't kiss and tell. How about you two?
Goofs
Revealing mistakes: When Alice is fighting Freddy in the church, she burns a hole through his body. Not only is it obvious that the hole isn't actually there but it is a cartoon effect superimposed over Freddy but when the camera goes away and then comes back, there is a panel of brightness at the top left hand corner of the effect so you can't see the Freddy jumper clearly.

Continuity: The wrecked car lands on Freddy twice.

Continuity: After Sheila smears the blood on her paper, it's wet. But in the next shot the blood stain is dried and has changed formation.

Revealing mistakes: Chain visibly attached to the back of Dan's truck when it gets smashed in by an invisible force.

Continuity: After Kristen leaves the Elm Street house, her car is shown parked outside again when we see out the window.

Crew or equipment visible: Camera crew reflected in Dan's truck.

Continuity: When Freddy fights Alice in the church, we see a close-up of Freddie taunting her and the little finger of the glove is missing and his bare, unburnt finger is clearly visible.

Continuity: When Kristen is talking to the real nurse after bumping her head, her hand is on her head in the wide shot but not in the close-up.

Audio/visual unsynchronised: In the diner, a close-up of the jukebox reveals that the needle is on the label of the record, yet music is coming out of it.
Cool Information and Alternate Versions
Cool Information
When Alice goes into the theater, there is a poster for Reefer Madness II: The True Story (1985), New Line Cinema's first success.

The 2 gravestones visible behind Kristen Parker's & Roland Kincaid's are: Donald & Nancy Thompson (characters from Nightmare on Elm Streets 1, 3 & 7).

The sandcastle form of the Elm Street House is visible on freeze-frame before it explodes.

The name of the diner where Alice works is called the "Crave Inn", a reference to series creator Wes Craven.

Also on the background wall of the theatre entrance, there is a poster of Renny Harlin's previous movie Prison (1988).

Director Cameo: [Renny Harlin] a student in a classroom.

Alternate Versions
56 seconds of footage were originally removed from the UK version.

Passed uncut in the UK in 2001 with a 15 rating.

Cut in Sweden by 5 min when shown in theaters.

In the trailer, the way Freddy says "How sweet, fresh meat" at the end is different than how it appears in the theatrical version.

In the original theatrical release, when Freddy puts on sunglasses in the beach scene, the sound track contained a short Miami Vice-like riff. This has been removed in subsequent releases.
